Donald Trump is now the NEW Bernie Sanders! He has promised in a speech in Cleveland, Ohio, today on 8/9/2016 that the US government has enough money to pay for student’s schooling.
The Republican nominee has vowed to PAY education for needy families for both public and PRIVATE schools for students who cannot afford it.
Here’s an exact quote from Donald Trump’s speech:
The Democratic Party has trapped millions of Africans American and Hispanic youth in failing government schools that did denied them the opportunity to join the ladder of American success. It’s time to break up that monopoly. I want every single inner city child in America who is today trapped in a failing school to have the freedom, the civil right to attend the school of their choice.
Their parents will choose the finest school, they will attend that school, this includes private schools, traditional public schools, magnet schools and charter schools which must be included in any definition of school choice. Our government spends more than enough money to easily pay for this initiative, with billions and billions of dollars to be left over, its simply a matter of putting students first, not the education bureaucracy and that’s what happened.
Let’s run through the numbers. At state and federal level the United States spends more than $620 billion on K12 education each year. That’s an average of about $12.296 for every student in our elementary and secondary schools.
Trump went on to say that “We spend more per student than almost any other major country in the world and we’re doing very poorly in terms of A list, so obviously Common Core does not work.”
Donald Trump has long been talking about a “School Choice” Policy but he has never explained exactly what it means until now. Mr. Trump also said that “parents will be so happy, to be able to walk their kids in safety.”
“We went to the Moon but we can’t provide free school to our kids?” Trump said.
“I understand that many stale old politicians will resist my plan.” alluding to possible criticism coming his way from inside the Republican Party.
After his recent promise to “provide every child in every forgotten stretch in this country a free quality education”, many former Bernie supporters are expected to flock to Donald Trump and the Republican Party.
