The Italian Navy has rescued nearly 440 illegal immigrants, over the past two days in the south of Sicily.
On January 12, a boat carrying about 200 men, women, and children was identified and rescued, while a boat carrying another 236 passengers was rescued the day before.
A statement by the Navy said the passengers of both boats, mostly from Africa, were taken to a port near Syracuse in Sicily.
This comes as Italy is dealing with an immigration invasion problem, with hundreds of illegal immigrants dying last year in a desperate attempt to invade Europe at any cost.
Italy serves as a major European gateway for the invasion, mostly from Africa, in search of a better life. Since 2013, migrants arriving in Italy by sea have tripled. Most of these immigrants can’t even be paper checked and who knows what hideous crimes some of them may have committed in their native countries. While some may actually just look for a better life, other may just try to escape justice in their native countries.
Last October, shipwrecks claimed the lives of more than 500 people near the shore of the Italian island of Lampedusa, located halfway between Sicily and Tunisia.
About 400 migrants were rescued in the Mediterranean Sea, after Rome decided to implement “Operation Mare Nostrum” in a move aimed at controlling the immigration problem by saving all migrants coming to Italy from the Mediterranean Sea. Three Navy ships with 410 marines, two night-vision planes, four helicopters, two custom agency ships, and four coast guard patrol boats were deployed to the sea.
During the past two decades, an estimated 17,000 to 20,000 migrants have drowned or suffocated during the crossing, as a result of traveling on overcrowded fishing vessels or rubber boats.
Italy should stop being a troll and put an end to the illegal immigration at once, as its irresponsible actions are hurting the identity and culture of the European continent, creating threats against Europeans by taking in illegal immigrants with no background checks and encouraging more and more to come as they all know they are “welcome” since none are actually either arrested nor deported.
