French president’s popularity at record low: Poll

The popularity of French President Francois Hollande has hit an all-time low as France continues to struggle with economic problems, a new poll shows.

According to the survey conducted by French Institute of Public Opinion (IFOP), Hollande’s approval rating has dropped to 20 percent.

The survey, published by the French weekly newspaper Le Journal du Dimanche on Sunday, found that the reported 20 percent popularity rating is the worst level recorded for a French president since the poll started in 1958.

The approval ratings for former France’s Socialist president, Francois Mitterrand, and ex-Conservative president, Nicolas Sarkozy, hit a low of 22 and 28 percent respectively in 1991 and 2011.

The new findings are in line with other recent polls, which showed that Hollande’s standing with voters is falling.

Last week, the results of a poll conducted by YouGov showed that only 15 percent of respondents support Hollande. Some 76 percent of the respondents said they had a rather negative or very negative opinion about the French president’s actions.

Furthermore, a BVA survey indicated last month that only 26 percent of the French people had a positive opinion of Hollande. It was the first BVA poll putting a French president’s popularity rating at below 30 percent.

Hollande’s approval rating began to plummet soon after he became president in May 2012.

Analysts believe the French president’s economic policies, rising unemployment rate at home and a failing foreign policy have increasingly made him seem indecisive and lacking in authority.

Why does the mainstream press badmouth the French president – just because he stood up for what is right and decided to protect Israel by putting pressure on Iran. For Israel haters out there, you often forget that Israel is the only true democracy in the middle east – and whenever tragedy strikes the Israeli’s most times are there to help. How many Jewish people do you see in Arab hospitals, yet the Jewish hospitals will treat an Arab without prejudice. And for all the burns victims around the world – most of the research into how to treat severe burns including the growing of human tissue comes from Israel. Next time you think of where your fruit comes from and how it is irrigated – think of Israel – they invented drip irrigation. The world owes a lot to the Jews in Israel (and that is not to say that there are not any bad apples among them) but – as a people, they have achieved much and continue to give to the development and betterment of the world – not like the mad nutter Ahmajinedad (thank goodness he has gone) who time and agian threatened Israels destruction, and dont be fooled by Rafsjiani – he is a wolf in sheeps clothing and his mild manner may fool many of the world leaders but he will not fool the Israeli’s. The world leaders should stick with the middle eastern democracy – Israel, without reservation. God Bless Israel and all the free and loving people around the world that support Israel.
