Congressman Ron Paul won 4,671 votes in today’s Iowa Republican Straw Poll, topping Governor Mitt Romney’s vote total from 2007 and drawing a near statistical tie with today’s winner at 27.6 percent of the vote versus 28.5 percent.

Dr. Paul’s finish earned him a strong second place and it was the fourth highest vote total ever received by a candidate at the important test of candidate strength.

Said campaign chairman Jesse Benton,

“Dr. Paul is surging in this race, and today’s results show the strength of his grassroots support and top notch organization.

“These straw poll results, our growing poll numbers and our strong fundraising shows that our message is resonating with Iowans and Americans everywhere.

“Our message was the same in 2007 as it is in now in 2011, but this time we have quadrupled our support. That means our message is spreading, our support is surging, and people are taking notice.

“We are uniting a coalition of longtime supporters, fiscal conservatives, constitutional conservatives, independents, tea party and anti-big government activists to take on the Washington establishment.

“Today, Ron Paul has emerged as a top tier candidate and is a serious contender to win the Republican nomination and the Presidency.”

Here is Mitiz’s comment about Ron Paul, and things you should know about his beliefs.

“…. Look up libertarian and that is what Ron Paul is, not a GOP…

All drugs, hell just about everything should be legalize. :-x

    Prostitutions, gambling should be legalize.

Minors can have sex with adults, Ron Paul is a sick person.

No limits on Pornography, even minors….”

    He would legalize Same Sex.

He would not stop any form of Abortion, his beliefs system allows any form of it.

If Ron Paul were President in 1941– we’d all be speaking German. :(

Everyone is a friend and no one is consider to be an ally, Ron Paul own words.

    Dead on Mitiz!!!!!!

You seem to be pointing out the fact that Ron Paul is a libertarian down to the definition. He believes that our government has no right in interfering with the pursuit of happiness of it’s citizens. IF that means you like to smoke crack and bang a prostitute, then by all means. But of course this is not what makes Ron Paul a desirable candidate, he is most popular for his views on the economy and our ever growing government. RON PAUL 2012.

Unbelievable, how Paul got the votes is beyond me.

Democrats only votes for Obama. And the Republicans do not vote for him, because Paul can’t not win and with agenda like the ones you listed. He has lost so many presidential elections and got less than 5% of the votes.

Paul can take votes away from the Republican candidate who can beat Obama.

Most people don’t believe in the polls, they are all misleading.

Dems like to conduct polls and ratings to persuade people to buy into their agenda.

      A. The results can not be verified, and the mainstream media can say whatever results they want.

      B. Before the polls are conducted, the pollsters/cheaters send text messages to their own people to vote or they don’t even conduct the real polls, they just say they did.

      C. We read articles about hacking into government and industrial corp., so what makes you think the polls can not manipulated or be just plain fraudulent.

I mean, this poll isn’t a big deal at all. It’s just interesting that Ron Paul is attracting more votes. And to say that the poll is fraudulent is a little ridiculous. While of course it’s not outside the realm of reality, I don’t think Ron Paul would send out goon hackers to “cheat” the poll. Ron Paul is going to be a top contender for the republican nomination. Young and old people alike are starting to follow what Paul is saying and it sounds much better than anything else proposed by other candidates. And as an American, I respect his beliefs on the constitution. He wants a more free America, that can pull out of costly wars and focus more on creating jobs back home. RON PAUL 2012

      • Republic Banana says:

Paul is mad at Governor Rick Perry for accusing Fed Chairman Bernanke as being “TREASONOUS.”

Congressman Paul told CNBC’s Larry Kudlow, “Those are pretty strong words.”

“But the founders felt pretty strongly about counterfeiting.” Paul added. “I wouldn’t call it treasonous, but I would call what our Federal Reserve does morally equivalent to counterfeiting because they create money out of thin air and they give us our problems.”

Comedian Jon Stewart and Alex Jones are fighting very hard for him to be selected as the Republican Party’s presidential nominee.

Jones said “The desperate globalist-controlled media has failed in their attempt to convince the world that Ron Paul can’t win, and has now turned towards divisive race card tactics in a concerted attempt to destroy his 2012 bid for the presidency.” :-x

  3. Damien says:

Ron Paul is the solution to all problems US is facing now. He’s not saying all drugs will be legalized, all he’s saying is that it’s not government’s role to control one’s mental state. Drug wars are meaningless and not enforcable and destined to fail. If cannabis alone de-criminalized, there would be resourcess freed to deal with more henious drugs. I too believe canabis is not a drug and should not be criminalized. Abortion should be family decision, government should not have say into that at all. Same sex marriages? What’s wrong with that? About minors having sex with adults? I don’t think you can find any evidence that Ron Paul suggests anything like that.

He’s also saying he will stop US war machine from ruining lives oversees and domestic, amen to that. Ron Paul is our only hope. All others will suck the blood of common people until it’s all dried out.
