US Orders News Blackout Over Crippled Nebraska Nuclear Plant

submit to reddit

A shocking report prepared by Russia’s Federal Atomic Energy Agency (FAAE) on information provided to them by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) states that the Obama regime has ordered a “total and complete” news blackout relating to any information regarding the near catastrophic meltdown of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant [photo top left] located in Nebraska.

According to this report, the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant suffered a “catastrophic loss of cooling” to one of its idle spent fuel rod pools on 7 June after this plant was deluged with water caused by the historic flooding of the Missouri River which resulted in a fire causing the Federal Aviation Agency (FAA) to issue a “no-fly ban” over the area.

Located about 20 minutes outside downtown Omaha, the largest city in Nebraska, the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Plant is owned by Omaha Public Power District (OPPD) who on their website denies their plant is at a “Level 4” emergency by stating: “This terminology is not accurate, and is not how emergencies at nuclear power plants are classified.”

Russian atomic scientists in this FAAE report, however, say that this OPPD statement is an “outright falsehood” as all nuclear plants in the world operate under the guidelines of the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES) which clearly states the “events” occurring at the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant do, indeed, put it in the “Level 4” emergency category of an “accident with local consequences” thus making this one of the worst nuclear accidents in US history.

Though this report confirms independent readings in the United States of “negligible release of nuclear gasses” related to this accident it warns that by the Obama regimes censoring of this event for “political purposes” it risks a “serious blowback” from the American public should they gain knowledge of this being hidden from them.

Interesting to note about this event was the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Chief, Gregory B. Jaczko, blasting the Obama regime just days before the near meltdown of the Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant by declaring that “the policy of not enforcing most fire code violations at dozens of nuclear plants is “unacceptable” and has tied the hands of NRC inspectors.”

This report further notes that the “cover-up” of this nuclear disaster by President Obama is being based on his “fantasy” of creating so-called green jobs which he (strangely) includes nuclear power into as his efforts to bankrupt the US coal industry proceed at a record breaking pace.

Unknown to the American people about Obama’s “war” on the US coal industry is it’s estimated to cost them over a 60% increase in their electricity bills by 2014 and cause over 250,000 jobs to be lost in an already beleaguered economy.

More ominous for those American people whose lives depend on the coal industry that is being deliberately destroyed is the Obama regime’s massive “security exercise” currently ongoing in the major coal mining States of Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia, and as we can read about, in part, as reported by InfoWars.Com:

“If you’re still living under the delusion that the TSA is just restricted to airports then think again. A joint VIPR “security exercise” involving military personnel has Transportation Security Administration workers covering 5,000 miles and three states, illustrating once again how the TSA is turning into a literal occupying army for domestic repression in America.

The TSA, in alliance with a whole host of federal, state, local agencies as well as military personnel, is currently conducting a massive “security exercise” throughout Ohio, Kentucky and West Virginia.

“The participating teams are composed of a variety of TSA assets including federal air marshals, canine teams, inspectors and bomb appraisal officers. They will be joined by state and local law enforcement officials to supplement existing resources, provide detection and response capabilities. The exercise will utilize multiple airborne assets, including Blackhawk helicopters and fixed wing aircraft as well as waterborne and surface teams,” reports the Marietta Times.

Although the exercise is couched in serious rhetoric about preparedness, it relates to “no specific threat” and the details are nebulous to say the least and seems to revolve around little else than testing out high-tech surveillance equipment and reminding Americans who their bosses are.”

Obama’s fears of the American people turning against nuclear power, should its true dangers be known, appear to be valid as both Germany and Italy (whose people, unlike the Americans, have been told the truth) have turned against it after the disaster in Japan and vowed to close all of their atomic plants.

Perhaps even more sadly for the American people is this report stating that the Obama regime is “walking in lockstep” with Japan in their attempts to keep the truth of nuclear accidents from their citizens; which in the case of the Japanese can only be labeled as horrific as new evidence points to them knowing within hours of the Great Tsunami that their atomic reactors had melted down, but have only today ordered an evacuation of pregnant women from what are called “radiation hotspots.”

With a country that some scientists are now warning may soon become uninhabitable due to radiation damage, and with reports of mutant rabbits and radioactive whales now being reported, one wonders if in knowing the truth the American people would really want to follow Japan’s “example” instead of those people in Germany and Italy?

But, with an already documented 35% increase in the infant mortality rate for American mothers living in the western coastal regions of the US caused by radiation blowing onto them from Japan being ignored by these people there doesn’t seem to be much hope for them.

Bware of Calhoun spring water, even in glass bottles.

  • Karl

Odd mix of fact and fiction here. Obama is not trying to bankrupt the coal industry. In fact his absurd support for “clean coal” is one of the cornerstones of his bizarro energy policy. That’s what you get for listening to Info-wars. Now I don’t know what to believe.

    • nancy

What I’ve been hearing from people connected with coal, is that BHO is working to destroy the coal mining industry & coal power plants.

    • Linda

Baloney. He is trying to shut down the coal industry in America because most coal mines are independent small businesses that can’t be controlled. He is responsible for the closing of 5 coal plants. Meanwhile, the UN is funding the building of coal mines in China.

  • dave

Clean coal, yeah that’s a joke. I dropped some clean turds in the toilet tonight too.

  • 1%china

if it’s real, histroy is similar shocking.last econmic cirsis is Three Mile Island, today is Nebraska Nuclear Plant, westen is so merciless.shock!maybe it is BP or oil revenge. last time is german anti-nuclear energy, today is german abandon it.by the way clean coal tech is real, because china import it from usa.

  • beau

WTF is this not major front page news?

    • Josh

Because it’s fake. There is no meltdown…don’t believe right-wing propaganda that links to wikipedia as a source.

  • mike

Its not front page news because its not true. The detour for I29 goes right by this plant on us 75.Pics are from 1993 flood but there was no melt down then either.

    • Jake

What do you mean it’s not true? Are you crazy? Have you even seen the video from this article??

      • Josh

Jake, that report clearly states that there is no danger. This isn’t a tsunami created by a massive earthquake, it’s slowly rising flood water that every reactor is designed to withstand. As Mike stated, this area was flooded 18 years ago and guess what? There’s no 3-eyed fish swimming in the Missouri river today. Open your eyes and started reading real news.

  • DeepSpace

pictures are REAL …the threat is REAL ..Media is not in the business of telling the TRUTH above entertainment level …wake up >> some REAL pictures right here >>

  • AngieDaLib

I think I’m with Mike on this one. There’s no way this would be THE ONLY source covering it. NO way. It’s be all over via social networking anyway. Facebook and Twitter would be all a-buzz. I think I remain skeptical until I see some sort of evidence.

    • DeepSpace

if you would do some REAL research you would find plenty of sources on FB and twitter and elsewhere. you must either be too lazy , stupid or plain ignorant …go back to sleep sheeple , nothing to see here

      • AngieDaLib

I did search both Twitter and Facebook, as well as international news sites and the IAEA site and found nothing whatsoever of it. I DO want to know the truth, so if you can point me to some evidence instead of tossing out insults, I think your cause would be better served. Thanks!

    • dmarie

It’s real and being suppressed – I live in Omaha. The Fort Calhoun Nuclear Power Plant is not being reported on, and it is most definitely being flooded. There was a flood in 1993 – but the current flood is very real – and possibly worse. Get the word out and help our community get answers and more importantly action!

      • Josh

Liar, liar, high-floodwater pants on fire. You know this isn’t true. There is no meltdown, You’ve been fooled by the Coal lobbyists.

  • Michael Cohen

When nuclear accidents take place, the firt thing governments do is to claim there is no accident and everyhing is working. IT happened in Russia, Japan and Three Mile Island. The problem with this accident is that there are nearly a million people who can be exposed to radiation and they should be taking iodine pills, especially for the children. Obama’s censorshp program is endangering lives.

    • Josh

If this was a real threat, don’t you think the downstream states (Missouri, Kansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana) would be up in arms about this? IF IT WERE REAL, which it isn’t, the Governors of those states (mostly republican, btw) would be demanding answers and federal money…but they aren’t.

      Wonder why?

  • AngieDaLib

I understand that there is flooding. I am not denying that whatsoever. I’m just unsure of the risk of nuclear disaster. Even the guy above who said he had some real pics seemed to show flooding being held back by the aquaberm. Being a no-fly, I don’t expect to see any pictures of the current state of the plant, but I wish we could. I don’t know anyone in the area to ask for personal accounts, but I sent a few Facebook messages last night to try to get to the bottom of this. None of the websites mentioned in the article say anything about it, but clearly if it’s being suppressed, they’re not going to, so I guess this is a case of relying on the word of those that live there, retrieved via social networking.

    • Josh

Angie, why isn’t BBC reporting on this? A media blackout issued by Obama (as unlikely as that is) wouldn’t affect international news. Look at the stock market…a meltdown in Nebraska would have a detrimental affect on the market, and that isn’t happening. The only website mentioned, Infowars.com, is run by a right-wing conspiracy theorist named Alex Jones. The Marietta Times article about TSA mentions nothing about them becoming Secret Police. All the words and phrases in quotes link to opinion sites or wikipedia.

      This article is a joke.

      • AngieDaLib

 Ah-ha! Missed the link to Infowars, or I wouldn’t have bothered reading any of it. Thanks for that!

And yes, my point to the believers was exactly that. If this was true, why wouldn’t it be on international news of Twitter/FB.

      • Linda

The BBC? :-D Are you kidding? You expect truth from them?

  • Cactuar

    Sucks to be you!

    • Josh

It would suck to be a brain-dead moron who believes this tripe.

  • Josh

To everybody…there is no media blackout. I just googled “Fort Calhoun nuclear” and came back with several articles from CREDIBLE sources. Don’t take my word for it, do your own research today, and be smarter tomorrow.

  • Cactuar

How high is the water momma?

  • suddencall

I do believe that all nuclear power should be shut down as soon as possible and no more should be built.Risking our lives for electricity is ludicrous and not a very smart way to do business. There is only two reasons to build nuclear power plants ,one is ignorance and the other is corporate greed. Stop endangering the people of the world ,stop the NUC’S
If you really want to help go to change.org and sign my petition to give share holders a vote on campaign contributions. stop the politico’s from robbing our corporations and share holders blind .

  • Anita

There is no threat of a metdown or radioactive material! Yes ,the missouri is overflowing it’s banks. The plant itself is on cold shut down.Once again the EU is pushing it’s propaganda!I live within 15 miles of the plant, and I feel totally safe.

    • Linda

I don’t think we can blame the EU for this little gem, Anita. This is just another junk “news” website that has no real funds for journalism, so instead they copy and paste sensationalist crap from random internet wackos. We have plenty of these wacko in the States. Did you happen to click on the “source?” Please do, it’s a real hoot.

  • Good ol’ Rebel

Self allayal and property values,it’s a bubble.

  • :-? The article about “Obama wants to bankrupt the coal industry” is completely wrong, and taking the words COMPLETELY out of context. It is blaringly obvious in Obama’s words that the article quotes VERBATIM that he was referring to the “factory which chooses to be coal-fired” and NOT to the coal industry!! Since when is the entire coal industry ONE coal-fired factory?!?

The blogger (blogger != reporter) also fails to mention that the coal industry can easily EXPORT the coal to other coal-burning countries!! I was in Australia a few years ago, and my cousin was lamenting that since the big China / US contaminated-goods scandals, many Chinese factories were shut down. As a further consequence, Australia’s economy suffered due to the fact that China was purchasing large amounts of Australian coal to fuel those factories.. America can just as easily sell its coal to other countries who are willing to use it.

    Just my $0.02. :)

KMTV Action News – a CBS affiliate. Where PERHAPS some, ‘reporter’, tired of watching the river raise got it in their head to pencil out a china syndrome catastrophe and then set about to lay the ground work for it in reality. In all likely hood, to set them selves up to take credit for, ‘breaking the story early’. If a reporter in Omaha, maybe I would have had similar thoughts for escaping the beef belt and landing a job at a major news desk. He appears he’ll be a fine replacement for Dan Rather.

As for those suggesting we follow a European energy model, after accusing that a Japanese model has been followed.

Cactuar, the tune of the day isn’t a Johnny Cash number but one by Janice Joplin. The one with the line that sorta goes, ‘Glow’n, Glow’n, Glown’n on the river’.

  • Linda

 This is complete trash. Who republishes a junk piece from whatdoesitmean.com? A piece that can’t even provide a link to the original Russian report, no less! And how can there be a media blackout when you have a local news story ON THIS VERY PAGE!? Is this whole news outlet this shitty?

  • Cactuar

    Another downwinder!

  • Good ol’ Rebel

I guess we gotto look out for grain silo criticalities.

    Pepper sauce with extra plutonium.

  • Meme

I live in Omaha. If I see any mutant rabbits or die of cancer, I’ll report it first thing.

  • Mr E.N Teritus

It will be difficult to pin down that lesion, was it allanite fertilizer,Monsanto agent orange or your burst casks of neutron froth?

There are more sources than this website which has been known to print hyped up material. You can try theintelhub.com, beforeitsnews.com, alternative news report, lucaswhitefieldhixson.com, and more that can be found relatively easy. The fact there is a no fly zone over that area is suspicious and media should be allowed some sort of access in order to quell the growing uncertainty. Fukushima was lied about from the beginning, and being so naive to think you need an earthquake or tsunami to cause a nuclear accident proves that one has a horrible memory: Chernobyl, 3MI? No natural disasters there, only human error. Plus the fact that Fort Calhoun has vastly more spent fuel being stored on site than any of the forementioned complexes did or have.

  • Dave

This is outright bull! Wish you foreigners would mind your own business and quit your bashing the US over your jealousy. This is not Russia and the press here would not suppress a story because the government ordered them to. It would be on every major news outlet. Obama does not support nuclear power. He is just going along with for support on what he does favor. He is a coal industry killer though. One website making up lies does not make fact. If you think it does then you’re the idiot!
