‘Europe is dying’ U.S. population expert tells Senate hearing

Population Research Institute (PRI) President Steven Mosher.

Given the precipitous decline in the birthrates of European countries, all anti-natal programs funded by the United States should immediately be replaced by pro-natal programs, one top population expert recently told the U.S. Senate.

“It doesn’t matter whether we call them reproductive health programs, family planning programs, or population control programs,” said Steven Mosher, president of the Population Research Institute (PRI). “They all have the same effect: they force down the birth rate in countries that are already dying. Such programs are only making a bad problem worse.”

The hearing before the Senate Commission on Security and Cooperation in Europe focused on the implications for the security, as well as the economic and social developments in Europe, due to demographic decline marked by diminishing and rapidly aging populations, in most of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe’s (OSCE) 56 participating states.

Commission Chairman, Rep. Chris Smith noted that the member states – every country of Europe and the former Soviet Union, as well as the U.S. and Canada – are already seeing dramatic demographic changes that are “sure to have dramatic consequences for the security, economic, and human dimensions of the OSCE.”

“The fact is that most OSCE countries are in demographic decline, many of them in rapid decline. Only a handful of the OSCE’s 56 member states are at or above replacement level,” Smith observed.

Mosher agreed. “Five centuries after the Black Plague devastated Europe, a White Pestilence is now decimating that same continent,” he said. “Many nations, especially in Europe, are already in a death spiral, losing a significant number of people each year. Listen closely, and you will hear the muffled sound of populations crashing.”

The commission heard that the pattern of demographic decline will likely have significant social, economic and security consequences for countries throughout the region. States will become increasingly dependent upon foreign workers in the coming decades, while there will be a dramatic decrease in the pool of potential recruits for military service, resulting in mounting social tensions “as demonstrated by clashes in some participating States in recent years,” according to Smith.

“It is alarming and sad to see xenophobic and ultranationalist violence fueled by one nation’s perceptions of long-term decline vis-a-vis another group,” Smith said.

“Likewise with the economy,” Smith continued. “It is far from clear how, in many of the most rapidly declining countries, how economic growth can be sustained by a declining population – or, to touch on the most pressing specific, how the numerically smaller younger generations will even begin to provide for the larger older generations.”

Steven Mosher, whose presentation to the Commission concluded that the downward spiral of fertility decline and resulting demographic collapse is almost beyond reversal, began his address with a quote from ancient Greece:

“One remarks nowadays all over Greece such a diminution in natality and in general manner such depopulation that the towns are deserted and the fields lie fallow. Although this country has not been ravaged by wars or epidemics, the cause of the harm is evident: by avarice or cowardice the people, if they marry, will not bring up the children they ought to have. At most they bring up one or two. It is in this way that the scourge before it is noticed is rapidly developed. The remedy is in ourselves; we have but to change our morals.” (Polybius, 204-122 B.C.)

Ever notice how these american experts take a large salary for saying nothing of relevence to the subject they profess to be experts in…

  • Crazy Horse

    Ho,talks much but says little.

  • Damien

It’s inevidable. Smart educated people won’t have more than 1 or two kids, if any. Dumb fucks will reproduce like rabits. Have you seen the movie IDIOCRACY? Evolution doesn’t necessarily reward intelligence. We are dumbing down in an incredible rate.

    • Joe

I am not a movie goer.I think I have heard of that movie.I looked up the definition of idiocracy. It is defined as a nation or region run by fools.I guess that would be president Obama and liberal democratic congressmen and the democratic senators and the citizens that vote them into power.

    • Li Li

😆 i am LOLing at you, because of your lack of intelligence and common sense. some peoplem in less fortunate countires lack contraception and so are unable to NOT produce alot of babies. ALOT and i mean roughly about 15 million or more women are raped in the Congo everyday, so another source of baby boom. SO why don’t you shut the fuck up about people being dumb because they haven’t stopped having babies?. you can’t stop an adult having sex or wanting babies just because the population is exapnding. if you still believe it then answer this; do you have kids? if not then think before speaking and if so then your a hyprocrite.

      • Damien

I was talking about dumb fucks that multiply as rabbits, not poor woman in Congo getting raped. And I still stand by my words. What is worse than a parent that makes a kids and throws tham on the street. Isn’t most of worlds problems created by unatended, uneducated, unfed, unloved kids? It’s very hard for them to grow to be a productive member of society and yes, their parents are to blame. Sure I can’t stop them from having sex, but I can say they are the ones creating problems that most of us suffer. Because of the overpopulation, we’re killing the earth and it’s habbitants. If we can’t stop population growth, we’re a virus to this earth and will eventually kill it.

If you come across that movie “Idiocracy” watch it and you’ll know what I mean.

    I am still going strong.

I thought the world was overpopulated? You’d think declining birthrates would be a good thing. It could only be a good thing here, where people have 3 or 4 kids by the time they’re in their mid-twenties. I think the people in Europe find better things to do than reproduce. They get educated, they travel, and they get jobs. They actually contribute to society, rather than pop out baby after baby.

    • Li Li

hah!. so says the one who hasn’t experienced what is going in the world. have you ever considered that not everyone wants to stop having kids?. or they’ve gotten pregnant through no fault of their own?. think about it honestly. people in africa, arabic countires are unable to “contribute” to society because of other countires theiving their resources and oppressing them. e.g. America, Great Britan, France etc…why do you think Gaddafi was killed?. because he refused to give those countires and more authority over their riches, oil etc….and you call him evil. take you fucking hyporacy else where and think about where all you paper, technology, gold, petrol, bananas/ exotic foods, silk, cotton, diamonds etc com from. then think again. YOU DON’T CONTIRBUTE. instead you kill, miam and steal. thats your way of living. and guess who is producing more pollution in the world….THE WEST. CHINA etc…. 😮 honestly people who agree with you are just slef obessed idiots. you’ll argue that you send donations. but you only do it to make yourself feel good. ^^^….LOL….

I agree.I am from a family of twelve children, six from each gender.I was born in the year 1957,I was the ninth child. All of us from the same two parents.I have never been married and do not have any children…yet.I don’t care if I never have any.If I do,they won’t be born to a Muslim woman.Only an infidel woman will have my babies! It’s human nature to reproduce but people need to use some common sense. Most humans can reason and know that to have a certain number of children will be a financial burden depending on how much money the parent(s)are earning and how much space that a large family will occupy will depend on the size of the house. You said that Europeans like to travel and get jobs and get educated. That is what I like about Europeans.I have never been outside of north America, but I have met Europeans here(U.S.A.)

  • Joe

I am from a large family.Twelve children, six boys and six girls, all from he same two parents.I am fifty-four years of age and I have never been married and never had any children.Only in my dreams!Laurie says that Europeans like to get an education and travel(around the world)and get jobs. This is the quality traits in the Europeans from hundreds of years ago. This is why I(a black American man)like to see and talk to European tourist when ever I see any. They are a more advance race of people than Arab Muslims. All that Arab Muslim men like to do is conquer non Muslims and their lands using the war booty mentality.I don’t expect an intelligent race of white Europeans to be come extinct because of Muslim men and their “baby making machines”occupying their countries.Europeans are intelligent enough to know how and when to get rid of the Muslim cancer!
