Three African-American players from the Lappeenranta-based Finnish American Football League team Rajaritarit are suspected of rape.
According to the club, the players have been in police custody since Monday of last week.
“The matter came to me as a total surprise. We have made an effort to provide support to our players through the entire process”, explains Rajaritarit chairman Juho Ritala.
According to Ritala, the suspected deed would have happened in the residence of the players in question on Sunday night nearly two weeks ago. The men were taken into custody on Thursday of last week, Ritala says.
The police have not issued any statements with regard to the suspected crime. Eventually the Rajaritarit team decided to make the announcement themselves.

“There seem to be a lot of speculations circulating around in a town of this size. Many people seem to believe they know quite a bit about what has happened. So we decided to come forward with what we know.”
Ritala points out that so far it is merely a question of suspicion of criminal action, albeit a serious charge.
“Let the police do their investigation. In due course they will issue a statement”, Ritala told the Finnish News Agency STT on Thursday.
At the end of last season Rajaritarit – the name translates loosely as “Border Knights” in keeping with Lappeenranta’s position close to the Russian border – won promotion back to the Finnish top league.
The team has four American players, one of whom, Thomas Kudyba, is not suspected of any wrongdoing.

The team’s other American players arrived in Lappeenranta during the spring and the summer, the last one at the very end of July.
The team will play its last game of the regular season on Saturday. Rajaritarit have already made it to the play-offs.
“I doubt the boys will make it to the Saturday game. As far as I know their next hearing will not take place until Monday. Kudyba is our only foreign reinforcement on Saturday.”
Ritala hopes the team will be given some peace and quiet to prepare for the coming games.
The American Football Association of Finland (SAJL) information officer Tomi Tiilikainen regards the incident as very unfortunate.
“I have never heard of anything like this before during the twenty or so years that I have been involved in the sport. In time we will find out what has happened. In the meantime neither the association nor the team can do anything”, Tiilikainen commented on Thursday.
Finland’s Vaahteraliiga (“Maple League”) consists of eight teams, with the top four at the end of the regular season advancing to the play-offs.

They all got sentenced for 1 year and 8 months in prison for gang raping TWO under 20 year old girls and have to compensate 4,500 euros to both of the victims. Too bad all three of the negros are already in the US since they were released at one point in time and nobody thought of putting a travel ban on them. We doubt they’ll ever be transferred back to Finland to serve their sentences.
One girls is 19-year-old Timothy Sanders of Ashburn, Va., and the other one is a 18-year-old.
The court system has treated the Finish rape victims like prostitutes. Here is 4500 euros for what happened and we’re not going to punish them because they just forgot to pay up front.

Finland: how is that good old cultural tolerance working out for you? Maybe this incident will wake you up to the fact that multi-culturalism means eliminating white culture and replacing it with feral “culture” that has never developed anything positive for mankind.
There was a mistake in starting text. There was said: “They all got sentenced for 1 year and 8 months in prison”. They all got sentenced for 1 year and 8 months probation, not prison. But hopefully it will change in the Court of Appeal in Kouvola and they will get at least 2 years in prison.
I am Finnish so I can guarantee that the below information is correct.
In district court of Lappeenranta Lawrence Atkinson and Joe Nairn were foundguilty of rape and Brandon Horn was found guilty of abetment of rapes. District prosecutor Markku Ahonen had demanded them to be convicted for aggravated rapes.
They were convicted to 1 year and 8 months probation and 4500 euros compensation to each, under 20-years old, girls. Court construed probation sentences mostly with the fact that the men were longish time, meaning over 2 months, in pre-trial detention. They have all returned to USA.
Girls spent time with the players as friends in a local nightclub. Later they went to their apartment to talk. There one of the men asked the girls if they wanted to have sex with him. Girls said no. Then Lawrence Atkinson and Joe Nairn each raped one girl while Brandon Horn held the girls in place.
District prosecutor Markku Ahonen complained about the sentences. He still demands men to be convicted for aggravated rapes. In Finland a minimum sentence for aggravated rape is 2 years in prison. Next this case will be handled in the Court of Appeal in Kouvola.
So Lawrence Atkinson, Joe Nairn and Brandon Horn and/or their lawyers should later be in the Court of Appeal in Kouvola.

Everyone in Finland, except the rapists, paedophiles and animal torturers (which we clearly have also in high positions in Finland), hate Finnish court system more than anything!! In Finland people don’t get actually punished (almost) at all for raping children and women and brutally torturing and killing animals (others pets etc.). Even though, most Finns would be ready to give death sentences for these crimes.
We need to renew our legal system so that people will get much bigger sentences for these and other violent crimes. Otherwise it will just keep creating more and more violence and criminality in Finland since criminals renew their crimes and revenge is the only way to stop rapists, paedophiles and animal torturers etc. We have made addresses etc. about it, but nothing has happened. Even Russian men have publicly offered cheap solutions to all the victims who want justice in Finland, which has been shown for example in Finnish news, documents, internet pages and newspapers.
Many of us have protested having immigrants from Islamic countries from the beginning. Now the rest of the people will hopefully wake up. Many have voted political party Greens (Vihreät), because they want to save the nature. But the same party has been bringing brutal rapists, paedophiles, animal torturers, killers and other violent criminals from Islamic countries and still is planning to do so. Sharia is Islamic law. It for example commands that if someone owns a bible his/hers right hand must be cut off with a sword without any anaesthesia and all Christians must be killed. Why someone would want their enemies to their country? Islamic immigrants are already a terrorist threat to Finland and other countries.
Now I hope people are getting wiser in voting. In next elections they should vote people who are willing to stop other than work based immigration and who are willing to renew the legal system to stop brutal crimes against the innocent. We should vote political party the True Finns (Perussuomalaiset) and for example it’s member Jussi Halla-Aho.
