Romanians salesmen invented a new market tactic. Instead of change they give customers a chewing gum, mostly Orbit so they can sell their stuff.
Their argument is that they don’t have change at the moment so that’s all they can give, “take it or leave it”.
You got no option in there, you either take the gum or take nothing because you are not going to get your change out of these salesmen. The gum is usually very over priced. It should normally cost 20 RON Cents but you will get one as change for 30 RON Cents or more.
Romanian authorities are doing nothing about it but they promised to start checking some stores, someday.
